Support for energy bills
We know that energy bills are on the rise. So we have worked with key industry partners to provide information about the support that is available.
Priority services register
Our Priority Services Register provides vital support for vulnerable people during a power cut. You can register with your supplier or contact us. If you’re eligible, you’ll receive extra information, advice and support during a power cut.
Winter fuel payment
If you were born before 26th September 1956 you could get between £250 and £600 to help you pay your heating bills. The amount you'll get includes a "Pensioner Cost of Living Payment". This will be an extra amount available in winter 2022 - 2023.
Cold weather payment
Some households may be eligible for extra payments if they’ve experienced periods of exceptionally cold weather. To be eligible, you must receive certain benefits, pension credit or receive support for mortgage interest.
Warm home discount
£150 may be available off your electricity bill for winter 2022 - 2023 under the Warm Home Discount Scheme. The money is not paid directly - it is a one off discount on your bill. Contact your supplier for more information on whether this is available.
Energy price guarantee
The Energy Price Guarantee protects customers from increases in energy costs by limiting the amount suppliers can charge per unit of energy used. Energy bills will still be higher or lower depending on how much energy is used.
Energy Bills Support Scheme
The Energy Bills Support Scheme provides a £400 non-repayable discount to eligible households to help with their energy bills over winter 2022 to 2023.
