Investment workshops

We are investing £7.1 billion across our entire network between 2015-2023. This investment will go into reinforcing the existing network, improving reliability, providing additional capacity and upgrading our assets and equipment. We know that this investment in the electricity network is necessary as local authorities, developers and the business community are working to meet targets for new homes and commercial development.

In March 2018, our Depot Managers hosted a series of five stakeholder workshops at depots in the East Midlands.

The purpose of the workshops was to tell stakeholders about the local investment we are planning and to learn more about the challenges our stakeholders face so we can work together to help future-proof the region’s electricity network.

Stakeholders in attendance included councillors, council officers, developers and others involved in the growth agenda. Each workshop covered a different geographic area within the East Midlands.

We have now published our proposed actions, these have been decided upon via the multiple feedback that was gained at the investment workshops. To view the proposed actions please click here

In addition, we have produced investment booklets for each of our local areas in the East and West Midlands and Wales and the South West of England.  The booklets contain details about some of our 2017 and 2018 investment projects along with contact details to allow readers to get in touch with the WPD Manager of their local network. Should you require a booklet referencing a particular area you can request one by emailing njohnson@westernpower.co.uk or calling Nicki Johnson on 01332 827657.

A summary projects across the whole WPD network area can also be found on our investment map here.
