Nature in Bristol gets a spring boost

Staff volunteers have got spring off to a flying start at a community green space in Bristol.

Nature has been given a big boost in Fishponds after more than 200 trees and hedgerow whips were planted by 14 employees from our offices in Feeder Road.

The team spent a day planting at Delabere Avenue which has been identified as a priority site for new trees by Bristol City Council.

Our staff undertook the work as part of a partnership with Your Park Bristol and Bath, a charity dedicated to making local parks more welcoming for nature and people.

Volunteer Adamada Joel said: “Participating in the tree planting was an incredibly rewarding experience. It was inspiring to see our team work collaboratively towards a common goal, all while enjoying the beautiful weather.

“This initiative not only strengthens our commitment to sustainability but also deepens our connection to the community we serve. Planting a tree is like planting a seed of hope for future generations. Each tree we nurture today is a promise of a greener, healthier planet tomorrow.”

Amber Fisher, from Your Park Bristol and Bath, said: “We’re thrilled to work with National Grid Electricity Distribution to improve local parks.

“The team planted 194 hedgerow whips, 26 orchard trees and 3 large street trees. This new habitat will help connect nature so plants and animals can move through areas including Oldbury Court, Snuff Mills, Eastville Park and Fishponds Park.”

The conservation activity was carried out by our team as part of the our volunteering programme, which aims to provide 14,000 hours of community support each year.
